Fry attended St. Clair County Community College after graduating from Waterford Kettering High School in Waterford, Michigan. He finished 6-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 55 innings as a sophomore, striking out 97 batters.

The Mariners invited Fry to Spring Training in 2016. He pitched for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainers last season, posting a 3-1 record and 2.78 ERA in 48 games (47 relief appearances). After the season,
the Mariners added Fry to their 40-man roster. Fry was assigned to Tacoma to start the 2017 season, and in his sole appearance, he surrendered four runs in two innings of work. Following Mike Freeman’s promotion, Seattle designated Fry for assignment on April 11, 2017.
