Michael David Minor is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Cincinnati Reds (MLB). In the 2009 MLB draft, the Atlanta Braves selected him with the sixth overall choice. Minor has previously played for the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, and Oakland Athletics in the Major League Baseball.



Minor was picked in the 13th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays following a successful high school career at Forrest School in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. He did not sign, though, and instead chose to attend Vanderbilt University.


Minor was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major-league debut on August 9, 2010, against the Houston Astros. On August 17, 2010, Minor got his first major league victory. On August 18, 2011, Minor pitched six scoreless innings against the San Francisco Giants.



On February 19, 2016, Minor agreed to a two-year deal for $7.25 million with a club option for 2018. [20] Minor began the 2016 season on the DL. Minor was supposed to return in the second half, but exhaustion and shoulder pain caused him to miss the balance of the season.
