Yunior Marte was born on February 2, 1995, and is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball. He is 27 years old.
Marte won the Dominican Summer League Pitcher of the Year award in 2013 after going 4-3 with a 1.71 ERA over 47.1 innings in 11 appearances.
Marte made 11 appearances with the rookie-level Burlington Royals in 2014, posting a 4-3 record and 3.44 ERA. Marte went 4-5 with a 6.44 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 18 games for the Single-A Lexington Legends in 2015.
Marte pitched 107 innings for Single-A Lexington in 2016, going 6-8 with one save and a 4.21 ERA in 26 games (7 starts), throwing 19 wild pitches (2nd in the South Atlantic League), leading the league with 3 balks, and striking out 103 batters. He ranked sixth in the South Atlantic League relievers with a.225 batting average against.
Marte split his 2019 season between Northwest Arkansas and the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers. In 14 appearances for the two organizations, he had a 4.19 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work. On November 2, 2020, he opted for minor league free agency.
Marte signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on December 9, 2020. Marte was 0-3 with four saves and a 3.49 ERA in 43 games with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats in 2021. (one start).
On November 7, 2021, the Giants added Marte to their 40-man roster after the 2021 season. For the 2022 season, he was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.
