Gustave made his major league baseball debut with the Houston Astros in 2016, and he has previously played for the San Francisco Giants in the MLB.

On May 25, 2010, Gustave became an amateur player for the Houston Astros after signing a free-agent contract with the team.

In 2013, he was a member of the Greeneville Astros, which competed in the Rookie-level of the Appalachian League.

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed Gustave to a minor league deal on September 5, 2020. With Troy Stokes Jr. and Samuel Escudero, Gustave was transferred to the Milwaukee Brewers on June 25, 2021.
