Packy Naughton is an American professional baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball who graduated in 2014 from Boston Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his junior year, he underwent Tommy John surgery.



He was not taken out of high school in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, so he attended Virginia Tech and played collegiate baseball there.

Naughton threw 44 innings as a freshman at Virginia Tech in 2015, going 2–1 with a 4.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts. He participated in 15 games (14 starts) as a sophomore in 2016, with a 3–7 record and a 6.75 ERA.



That summer, he played for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League and was selected as a league all-star.

As a junior at Virginia Tech in 2017, he pitched in 17 games (seven starts), going 2–6 with a 6.24 ERA and striking out 63 hitters in 57+23 innings. After his junior year, he was taken in the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds.

Naughton was acquired off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals on March 21, 2022, and was added to the team’s 40-man roster. To begin the 2022 season, he was sent to the Memphis Redbirds of the Triple-A International League.
