Jakob Benjamin Lee Junis (born September 16, 1992) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the San Francisco Giants (MLB).
The Kansas City Royals selected him in the 29th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. He formerly played in the Major League Baseball with the Kansas City Royals, with whom he debuted in 2017.
Junis made his professional debut in 2012 with the Burlington Royals, going 2–2 with a 4.15 ERA in seven games (six starts). Junis also pitched for the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2013, posting a 2–6 record and 7.39 ERA in 13 starts, and the Lexington Legends in 2014, posting a 9–8 record and 4.30 ERA in 26 games (22 starts).
Junis made 27 starts for the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Northwest Arkansas Naturals in 2015, with a combined 5–12 record with a 3.78 ERA.
Junis pitched in eight games for the 2020 Kansas City Royals, going 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 25.1 innings thrown. Junis pitched for the Royals in 16 games in 2021, collecting a 5.26 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.
Junis was outrighted from the 40-man roster on November 5, 2021, but he declined the assignment and chose free agency instead. Jakob Junis signed a one-year contract worth $1,750,000 with the San Francisco Giants on March 14, 2022.
