The pitching of the Atlanta Braves has dominated the 2020 playoffs. Kyle Wright, though, put an end to his hot streak on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Braves’ NLCS Game Three was over before they even took the field. Kyle Wright, the starter, threw one of the worst. I’ve never seen two innings in my life, let alone in a playoff game.
Wright was charged with seven runs in just one inning of work. He surrendered five hits, two walks, and two home runs. All of the damage was done in only 28 pitches.
Wright had a particularly arduous day at work. And a complete 180 from his brilliant performance in the National League Championship Series.
Wright tallied up seven strikeouts, allowed only three hits, and didn’t allow a single run across six innings against the Miami Marlins in Game Three.
Worse, Wright’s successor, Grant Dayton, was also shelled. In two innings of relief work, he allowed eight runs on eight hits, three of which were out of bounds. Before the Braves’ first at-bat, the Los Angeles Dodgers had built an 11-0 lead.
Even though the Braves will still lead the series 2-1, it’s hard to imagine the Dodgers don’t have the upper hand right now.
