David John Peterson is a professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He was born in Arcadia, California, United States



Peterson went to Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, where he received his education.

In 2013, he represented the United States at the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game, which was held at Wrigley Field.



In his senior year, he went 3–0 with a 1.15 earned run average.

He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 28th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, but he chose to attend the University of Oregon instead, where he competed for the Ducks in collegiate baseball in 2014.

Peterson made 14 starts for the Oregon Ducks as a freshman in 2015, going 4–6 with a 4.39 earned run average (ERA) and 81 strikeouts in his 14 appearances.

In his sophomore season, he finished 4–5 with a 3.63 earned run average and 61 strikeouts in 13 starts.

During the summer, he represented the United States in an international competition. In 2017, Peterson was named the number one starter for the Oregon Ducks.

On March 3, he set a school record with 17 strikeouts, surpassing Tyler Anderson’s previous mark of 14 set in the same game in 2012. He broke his own record on April 29th, after recording 20.
