David Robertson, born David Alan Robertson is an American born professional baseball player who serves as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of Major League Baseball(MLB). He played high baseball at the Central-Tuscaloosa High School in Tuscaloosa and then played college baseball for the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team at the University of Alabama.

In 2006, David was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 17th round of the 2006 MLB draft. He agreed to play for the Yankees and received a signing bonus of $200,000. He made his MLB debut on June 29, 2008, for the New York Yankees. He played for the Yankees till he became a free agent in 2014.

The Chicago White Sox team signed him onto a four-year contract that year. The contract was worth $46 million. The White Sox traded David to the New York Yankees in July 2017.

David became a free agent again in 2019 and self-negotiated with the Philadelphia Phillies to play for them. The Phillies agreed and signed a two-year contract worth $23 million with him.

The Tampa Bay Rays signed David into their organisation in August 2021. In March 2022, the Chicago Cubs signed a one-year contract with him.
