He was a member of the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants in the past. Gausman attended Louisiana State University (LSU) and was an All-American pitcher for the LSU Tigers during his collegiate baseball career.

He was drafted in the first round (4th overall) in the 2012 MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles. In 2013, he made his MLB debut. In 2021, he was an All-Star.

Gausman presently throws four pitches: a four-seam fastball averaging 92–98 mph (148–158 km/h), a splitter averaging 82–86 mph (132–138 km/h), a slider averaging 80–86 mph (129–138 km/h), and a changeup averaging 84–88 mph (135–142 km/h), according to Statcast.

In 2020, he improved his four-seam fastball’s average velocity and spin rate (compared to 2019) by merely bending his right leg and tucking the front foot at the level of the rear leg’s knee.

Gausman married Taylor North in December 2016, and the couple has two kids.

Gausman grew up rooting for the Colorado Rockies. Clair Gausman, a former collegiate football official, is his father.
