Michael Rucker is a well-known name in American baseball. He plays as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Mike was born on April 27, 1994, in Columbus, Mississippi in the USA. His parents are Jeffry Rucker and Susan Rucker.



Mike played baseball in high school at the Auburn Riverside High School in Auburn, Washington. After high school, he first attended Gonzaga University where he played college baseball for the Bulldogs in his freshman year. He got transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) after his freshman year and continued to play baseball for the Cougars.

During the 2016 MLB draft, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round of the draft. Mike agreed and signed with the Cubs and received a signing bonus of $180,000.



He made his professional debut after he was assigned to play with the Arizona League Cubs. In December 2019, the Baltimore Orioles team selected Mike in the 2019 Rule 5 draft but he was returned to the Cubs in March the following year.

He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In July 2021, the Chicago Cubs selected promoted him to their active roster and he made his MLB debut that same night.
