Tomás Nido Parent: Meet Tomás Nido Father, Tomás Nido Sr And Mother, Liana Vicens.

Tomás E. Nido Vicéns, professionally called Tomás Nido is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player who plays as a catcher for the New York Mets baseball team. He played baseball at the Puerto Rico High School Baseball Academy which he attended as a junior.



His family moved to Oviedo, Florida where he spent his senior year at the Orangewood Christian School in Maitland, Florida. After high school, he wanted to play college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles at the Florida State University but after the New York Mets selected him in the 8th round of the 2012 MLB draft, he decided to sign with the Mets and forgo attending college.

He was given $250,000 as a signing bonus and he was assigned to play with the Kingsport Mets of the Rookie-level Appalachian League to begin his professional career.



The Mets promoted him to the major leagues on September 12, 2017, and he made his MLB debut the following day for the Mets when they played against the Chicago Cubs.

Tomás Nido’s parents are Tomás Nido Sr. and Liana Vicens. His mother was a multi-sport athlete who competed as a swimmer in the 1968 Summer Olympics at the age of 11.

Tomás’s father, Tomás Nido Sr. was also into sports as he won a tennis medal at the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games and also played Tennis whiles at the Louisiana State University.
