Jacob Webb Parents: Meet Krissy and Jerry Webb

Jacob Lawrence Webb (born August 15, 1993) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks. At Tabor College, he played baseball. The Braves selected him in the 18th round of the 2014 MLB draft. In 2019, he made his MLB debut with the Atlanta Braves.

He debuted with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast Braves in 2014, going 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 33.2 innings.

After Tommy John’s surgery, he missed the 2015 season.



He pitched for the Rookie Advanced Danville Braves and the Class A Rome Braves in 2016, posting a 0-0 record with a 4.85 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched.

He pitched 65 innings for the Class A Advanced Florida Fire Frogs and the Double-A Mississippi Braves in 2017, going 5-2 with a 2.07 ERA. He went 3-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 53 innings split between Mississippi and the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers last season.

 

After the 2018 season, he was added to the Braves 40-man roster.

 

He was a member of the Dominican Winter League’s Estrellas de Oriente during the 2018 offseason.

 

The Gwinnett Stripers were his first team in 2019. For the first time, he was recalled to the main leagues on April 14.

On April 16, he made his major league debut, pitching a third of an inning while striking out Ketel Marte. Webb recorded his first win and save against the Colorado Rockies in a series. Webb’s season was cut short in August due to an elbow impingement. In 2019, he went 4–0 with a 1.39 ERA in 32.1 innings for the Braves.

 

In eight relief appearances over 10 innings in 2020, he was 0–0 with a 0.00 ERA.

 

On May 17, 2021, Webb hit Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar in the face with a 94 mph (151 km/h) fastball, causing many nasal fractures.

 

In 34 bullpen appearances and 34.1 innings pitched in 2021, he was 5–4 with a 4.19 ERA. The Braves won the NL East with an 88-73 record and went on to win the World Series in 2021, their first victory since 1995. Webb started the 2022 season at spring training before being promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett in March. Webb was designated for assignment by the Braves on April 12, 2022. He was claimed by the Arizona Diamondbacks seven days later.

Webb was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 19, 2022.
