Packy Naughton, born on April 16, 1996, graduated in 2014 from Boston Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his junior year, he underwent Tommy John surgery.
He was not taken out of high school in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, instead, he attended Virginia Tech and played college baseball.
Naughton threw 44 innings as a freshman at Virginia Tech in 2015, going 2–1 with a 4.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts.
