Nicholas Blake Solak is a Major League Baseball second baseman and outfielder for the Texas Rangers of the American League. In 2019, he made his MLB debut.



Solak was born in Woodridge, Illinois, on January 11, 1995.

His father, Mark, spent 30 years at Motorola, and his mother, Roseann has worked in community health and substance misuse prevention.



Alexis is his sister’s name. Solak grew up outside of Chicago and was a fan of the Chicago White Sox as a kid, with Scott Podsednik, Paul Konerko, and Mark Buehrle among his favorite players.

Solak was a three-year member of the varsity baseball team at Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois, where as a junior in 2012, he batted .442 with 27 runs batted in (RBI). He had a .340 batting average as a senior in 2013.

On November 20, 2021, Solak married Roxanne McVey, his girlfriend. McVey and Solak met while attending the University of Louisville, where McVey was a volleyball player

On February 16, 2014, Solak made his college baseball debut, pinch-hitting for the Louisville Cardinals in a 6–1 win over the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.

Solak had a handful of collegiate firsts the next week. He got his first RBI on a groundout on February 19 against Eastern Kentucky in the Cardinals’ home opener.

He got his first hit in the Cardinals’ 21–8 blowout of the Western Michigan Broncos two days later, and he made his first start as a designated hitter the next day when the Cardinals shut out the Broncos 8–0.
