In 2019, when he played all 162 games for the Oakland Athletics, he finished third in the voting for the American League MVP.

Semien and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. were also finalists for the prize this year. Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels won the award in the end.

After signing a one-year agreement with the Blue Jays in the offseason, Semien returned to second base, a position he hadn’t played regularly since the 2014 season with the Chicago White Sox.

Depending on the Rangers’ offseason plans, Semien might either play shortstop or second base.

This off-season, the Rangers signaled they were willing to spend and might be aggressive in free agency to upgrade the squad after a 102-loss season.

When the offseason began, just roughly $28 million in salary for 2022 had been committed by the team.

There have been 1,020 games played over nine seasons by Semien with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland A’s, Toronto Blue Jays, and Detroit Tigers.
