Who is Julio Urías

Julio César Uras Acosta is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was signed by the Dodgers in 2012 and debuted in the Major League Baseball in 2016.

Carlos Uras and Juana Isabel Acosta are the parents of Uras. In his early twenties, he was a member of Mexico’s national youth squad.

Uras met Mike Brito, a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers when he was 14 years old. Brito had scouted Fernando Valenzuela for the Dodgers in the late 1970s.

On the same scouting trip to Mexico that they signed Yasiel Puig, the Dodgers discovered 15-year-old Urias at a showcase in Oaxaca in June 2012. On August 12, his sixteenth birthday, the Dodgers signed him.

The Dodgers paid a $450,000 signing bonus, with the majority of it going to the Mexican League’s Diablos Rojos del México.

During his childhood, Uras had three surgeries on his left eye to remove a benign growth. His left eye is nearly closed as a result, yet he can see through it.

Uras, a fervent Roman Catholic, replied when asked about his eye problem, “That is how God operates. He gave me a left eye that was poor but a good left arm.”

He underwent elective surgery to repair the problem on May 19, 2015.

Uras was arrested for domestic assault in May of this year.

The city attorney in Los Angeles agreed to drop the charges if Urias attended a hearing, did not commit any acts of violence against anyone, and completed a 52-week in-person domestic violence therapy program.
