Nixon was the 242nd pick in the NFL Draft of 2021, in the seventh round. The Patriots drafted him along with seven other players this year.

Nixon, together with defensive backs Richie Grant, Aaron Robinson, and Tay Gowan, and wide receiver Jacob Harris, set a new school record of five players taken in the NFL Draft last month.
At the end of the 2019 season, he had 49 receptions for 830 yards and was named honorable mention All-AAC. During his tenure with the Knights, he accumulated 1,652 yards on 108 grabs and 13 touchdowns.
Nixon is the 12th University of Central Florida wide receiver drafted in school history and the fifth since 2015.
