Sam Long was born Samuel Trenton Long. He plays baseball for the San Francisco Giants baseball team of the Major League Baseball (MLB). He is of American descent and plays as a pitcher for the Giants. He currently earns an annual salary of $703,750 from the Giants.

The 26-year-old player was born in Fair Oaks in California. He played baseball in high school at Rosemont High School. He later transferred to Del Campo High School in Carmichael, California where he continued to play baseball.

After his high school career, Sam played college baseball for the Hornets at the California State University in Sacramento. for the Hornets. He was named the WAC’s Freshman of the Year, and a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2014.

In 2016, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 18th round of the 2016 MLB draft. He was assigned to play with the GCL Rays to make his professional debut. He also played for the rookie ball Princeton Rays that season.

For the 2017 season, he spent it playing between the Low-A Hudson Valley Renegades and the Single-A Bowling Green Hot Rods. He was released by the Rays in 2018 after which he signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox team in March 2019.

Sam signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants in November 2020. The contract included an invitation to the Giant’s spring training.
