Tyler Beede originally attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Massachusetts, where he grew up. He stands tall at 6 feet 3 inches, he went 7-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 56.1 innings as a sophomore, helping them capture the Division 2 state championship.

Beede then moved to Groton, Massachusetts, to attend Lawrence Academy in Groton. In 96.1 innings in 2010, he was 14-1 with a 0.80 ERA and 189 strikeouts.

In 51 innings the next spring, he went 8-0 with a 0.69 ERA, 102 strikeouts, 8 walks, and 13 hits. His fastball clocked at around 92-94 miles per hour.

The Toronto Blue Jays chose him in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft, with the 21st overall pick. However, he declined a $2.5 million signing bonus in order to attend Vanderbilt University and play collegiate baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. That year, he was the only first-round choice who did not sign.

Beede was promoted to the main leagues by the Giants on April 10, 2018, and he made his major league debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks the same night at AT&T Park.

He began the game and pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out three and walking five batters. He did not get a decision in the 5–4 victory. With the Giants, he threw 7.2 innings in two games this season.
