Austin Scott Barnes is a known name in American baseball. He currently plays professional baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and serves as a catcher for the team.

Austin was born December 28, 1989, in Riverside, California in USA. He used to play in Little League Baseball as a shortstop as a little boy. He attended Riverside Polytechnic High School in his birth town and played for the school’s baseball team.

He was not drafted after high school so he enrolled at the Arizona State University where he played college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team.

The Miami Marlins in the ninth round of the 2011 MLB Draft after he had graduated from college. He made his professional debut in 2011 playing with the Class A Short Season Jamestown Jammers of the New York–Penn League.

Between 2012 and 2014, Austin played for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Jupiter Hammerheads and Jacksonville Suns in minor league baseball and was played as a catcher and second baseman.

The Marlins traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2014. In 2015, he made his MLB debut for the Dodgers on May 24. The Dodgers signed a two-year contract worth $4.3 million with him in February 2021.
