Dakota Ryan Hudson (born September 15, 1994) is an American Major League Baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals (MLB). In 2018, he made his major league debut.
Hudson was regarded as a top prospect in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, and he was selected in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals (34th overall).
He signed for $2 million and was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Cardinals before being promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals, where he concluded the season with a 1–1 record and 0.96 ERA in eight appearances out of the bullpen.
He began the 2017 season with the Springfield Cardinals and was chosen as the starting pitcher for the Texas League All-Star Game on June 27. On July 29, he was promoted to the Memphis Redbirds after posting a 9–4 record with a 2.53 ERA in 18 starts.
He appeared in seven games with Memphis, compiling a 1–1 record and a 4.42 ERA. He won the Texas League Pitcher of the Year award.
Hudson will have Tommy John surgery on September 28, 2020. Hudson has a 2.77 ERA in 39 innings thrown this season.
He was put on the 60-day injured list on April 15, 2021, as he continued to heal from Tommy John surgery. On September 24, he was activated and pitched 8+23 innings for the Cardinals in 2021.
