Yunior Marte is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of the Dominican Republic.



Marte was born in the Dominican Republic, in the city of Santo Domingo. He lives in Santo Domingo Notre, Dominican Republic, during the offseason.

The Kansas City Royals signed him as an international free agent for $90,000 on July 19, 2012, when he was 17 years old. Marte was named the Dominican Summer League Pitcher of the Year in 2013 after going 4-3 with a 1.71 ERA in 11 appearances covering 47.1 innings.



Marte pitched for the rookie-level Burlington Royals in 2014, earning a 4-3 record and 3.44 ERA in 11 appearances. Marte pitched for the Single-A Lexington Legends in 2015, going 4-5 with a 6.44 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 18 games.

Marte was 6-8 with one save and a 4.21 ERA in 26 games (7 starts) for Single-A Lexington in 2016, pitching 107 innings, throwing 19 wild pitches (2nd in the South Atlantic League), leading the league with 3 balks, and striking out 103 hitters.

With a .225 batting average against, he was sixth among South Atlantic League relievers. Marte was an All-Star in the Carolina League with the High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2017.

Marte also pitched 17 innings for the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals this season, posting a 5.75 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36.0 IP.

Marte was 4-4 with two saves and a 2.91 ERA in 43 bullpen appearances with the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals in 2018, pitching 80.1 innings and striking out 80 batters.

Marte divided the 2019 season between Northwest Arkansas and the Omaha Storm Chasers of Triple-A. He had a 4.19 ERA in 14 appearances for the two teams, with 15 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work.

Marte did not play in a game in 2020 since the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He chose  minor league free agent on November 2, 2020.
