Todd Andrew Smyly is a free agent in the American professional baseball league.

Smyly previously pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and Atlanta Braves in Major League Baseball.

Smyly played college baseball at the University of Arkansas before entering the professional ranks. He was a member of the US national baseball team, which won silver at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Smyly was selected in the second round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Tigers. In 2012, he made his MLB debut. Smyly was a member of the Braves’ World Series-winning team in 2021.

Smyly grew up in Maumelle, Arkansas, and was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to parents Todd and Toni. In his junior year, he set school records for wins (ten) and strikeouts (118) at Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock.

Smyly was a member of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team, which competed in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I.

He did not play in 2008 due to a fractured left elbow that required two screws to be placed. Smyly came within two outs of tossing the first no-hitter in the NCAA Division I championship tournament in 18 years as a redshirt freshman in 2009.
