Maxwell Martin Scherzer, professionally called Max Scherzer is an American born professional baseball player who plays as a pitcher for the New York Mets baseball team. Max play baseball in high school at Parkway Central High School.



The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the first round of the 2006 MLB draft. He signed with the Diamondbacks and began playing for them in 2007. During the 2008 offseason, he has named the fourth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks team. The Diamondbacks called him up to the major leagues in April 2008 and he made his MLB debut that month when they played against the Houston Astros.

He was traded in December 2009 to the Detroit Tigers. In January 2014, Max and the Tigers agreed on a $15.525 million salary for the 2014 season to avoid salary arbitration. He signed a seven-year contract in January 2015 with the Washington Nationals. The contract was worth $210 million and included a $50 million signing bonus to be paid out over 14 years.



When the contract with the Nationals ended, they traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers and in December 2021, he signed a three-year contract worth $130 million with the New York Mets.
