Kyle Hardy Wright is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves in the United States. He attended Vanderbilt University and played baseball there.

Wright was chosen fifth overall in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. In 2018, he made his major league debut.

Kyle Wright was born to Roger and Belinda Wright in Huntsville, Alabama. Mitchell is his older brother, while Trey is his younger brother.



Wright went to New Market, Alabama’s Buckhorn High School. He finished 6–2 with a 0.88 earned run average (ERA) and 75 strikeouts as a junior.

He has committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Wright pitched in 29 games with three starts for Vanderbilt in 2015, going 6–1 with a 1.23 ERA, 62 strikeouts, and four saves. 

In 2016, Wright was named a full-time starter. He finished 8–4 with a 3.09 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 16 starts. He played for the United States collegiate national team after the season.

Wright was chosen fifth overall in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. On June 16, he signed a $7 million signing bonus and was assigned to the GCL Braves.

In August 2017, Wright was promoted to the Florida Fire Frogs, where he ended the season. He was 0–1 with a 2.65 ERA in nine starts between the two teams.

 

At the start of the 2018 season, Wright was invited to spring training.

 

The Mississippi Braves were where he started the season. Wright had a 3.70 ERA in 109+ innings pitched, with 105 strikeouts and 43 walks.
