Jake Odorizzi is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Milwaukee Brewers selected Odorizzi in the first round, with the 32nd overall choice, of the 2008 MLB draft.

Odorizzi attended Highland High School in Highland, Illinois, where he helped lead the Highland Bulldogs to the Illinois state championship.

A nine-win pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system, he also had an ERA of just over three runs per game and 197 strikeouts in his career. The Arizona Brewers in 2008, the Helena Brewers in 2009, and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2010 were some of his previous professional stops (2010).

On December 17, 2010, the Brewers traded Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt to the Royals for Odorizzi, Alcides Escobar, Jeremy Jeffress, and Lorenzo Cain.

As of the midpoint of the 2011 season, Baseball America listed Odorizzi as their 23rd best prospect. As of 2011, he has been ranked fifth in the Texas League’s double-a prospects. He has been selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game in 2012.
