Travis d’Arnaud Philadelphia Phillies  Career

d’Arnaud began his professional baseball career in 2007 with the Gulf Coast League Phillies, the Rookie League club of the Philadelphia Phillies.

For the GCL season, he batted and threw well, with a.241 average and a .626 on-base percentage.



d’Arnaud began the 2008 season with the Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York–Penn League, the Phillies’ Class-A Short Season affiliate.

While in the NYPL, he hit .309 with an OPS of .833 over 48 games, earning a spot in the league’s midseason all-star game.

His next stop was the Class-A Lakewood BlueClaws, where he played for two seasons. He had a batting average of .305/.367/.464 while playing defense for both teams, making 10 mistakes and throwing 16 balls away.

He spent the whole 2009 season with the BlueClaws, appearing in 126 games. He had a batting average of .255 and an OPS of.738, but he had 13 home runs.

He was chosen for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game one more. BlueClaws won the South Atlantic League championship in 2009.

d’Arnaud was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Toronto Blue Jays in a 10-player deal in 2010.
From the Blue Jays, the Phillies obtained Roy Halladay and $6 million.

Brett Wallace was traded from the Toronto Blue Jays for d’Arnaud, Kyle Drabek, and Michael Taylor by the team.

As a result of this transaction, Houston Astros center fielder Anthony Gose was acquired.

For the entire 2010 season, D’Arnaud was a member of the Blue Jays High-A affiliate, the Dunedin Blue Jays, in the Florida State League’s High-A North Division. d’Arnaud had a .259 batting average, an OPS of .726, and six home runs in 71 games despite back difficulties and playing in a higher league.

D’Arnaud was chosen FSL Player of the Week and selected to compete in the annual Home Run Derby during the week of April 19. A Mid- and Post-Season All-Star in both seasons.

D’Arnaud spent the entire 2011 season with the Blue Jays Double-A affiliate, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, in the Eastern League.

Since joining the lower leagues in 2009, d’Arnaud has slowly improved his defensive abilities. However, in 2011, he made huge gains in all elements of his offense.

114 games, a .311 average, an OBP of.371, and a batting average of.311. During the season, he witnessed an increase in power, slugging .542 with 21 home runs and 33 doubles, while his on-base percentage went up to .547.

D’Arnaud was selected to the Eastern League’s Mid-Season All-Star squad on July 13 of this year. His sixth All-Star appearance came on August 25, when he was named to the post-season roster.

August 26, d’Arnaud was awarded Most Valuable Player of the Eastern Conference.
