Austin Thomas Slater is one of the known professional baseball players who currently plays as an outfielder for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Austin has a height of 1.85m and wears the number 13 jersey when playing on the field.
He was born December 13, 1992, in Jacksonville, Florida the United States. Austin began playing baseball at Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. After high school, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the 44th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft but Austin did not sign with them and chose to play college baseball at Stanford University.
He began to play baseball professionally when after his junior year in college, the San Francisco Giants drafted him during the eighth round of the 2014 MLB draft. This time, Austin signed with the team, forgoing his senior year in college.
Austin signed with the Giants and received a $200,000 signing bonus. That year, he made his professional debut playing for the Arizona League Giants of the minor league and was later promoted to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes after he played in two games.
Austin was promoted to the major leagues in June 2017,l and he made his MLB debut that day when the Giants played against the Philadelphia Phillies.
