Keegan Thompson Parents: Meet Jerry and Phyllis Thompson

Keegan Thompson

Keegan Thompson’s full name is Keegan Cole Thompson. He is from America and plays professional baseball as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of Major League Baseball.

Keegan was born on March 13, 1995, in the city of Cullman, Alabama in the USA. He played baseball at Cullman High School in Cullman where he was named Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year. After high school, he was undrafted by any team so he enrolled at Auburn University where he played college baseball for the Auburn Tigers.

During the 2017 MLB draft, the Chicago Cubs chose him in the third round of the draft. He signed with the Cubs and received a $511,900 signing bonus.  The Cubs assigned him to play with the Eugene Emeralds to start his professional career. He played for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2018.

The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic thus Keegan did not play a minor league game that year. He was added to the Cub’s 40-man roster after the 2020 season. He was promoted to the major leagues in May 2021 and he made his MLB debut that same month for the Cubs.

They are very supportive of his baseball career as they are often present during his games.
