Trea Turner, full name Trea Vance Turner is a baseball player who plays professionally as a shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB).  He was born in Boynton Beach, Florida in the USA to Mark and Donna Turner.



Trea’s non-professional career as a baseball player started in high school where he played for the school’s baseball team. He was a student at Park Vista Community High School in Florida. After high school, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB draft.

He did not sign with them as he wanted to play college baseball for the North Carolina State Wolfpack baseball team at the North Carolina State University. During his freshman in 2012, Trea switched from playing as a shortstop to playing as a third baseman.



In 2014, the San Diego Padres selected him in the first round of the MLB draft. He signed with them for a $2.9 million signing bonus. He began his professional career that year starting with the Eugene Emeralds of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League.

The Padres traded him in December that year to the Washington Nationals baseball team. He was promoted to the major leagues the following year in August 2015 by the Nationals and he made his MLB debut that night for the Nationals.

Trea played for the Nationals till July 30, 2021, when he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. The Dodgers signed him on a one-year contract worth $21 million.
