2016 saw Alex Erickson signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals where he began his professional career. The Bengals’ final roster only had one other undrafted free agent, and that was him.

He began the season as the team’s primary kick and punt returner, a position he held the entire year, as well as the backup receiver.

He had 6 catches for 71 yards on the year and averaged 7.0 yards on punt returns and 27.9 yards on kickoff returns. In the NFL, his 810 kickoff return yards were the most.



Before playing with the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL), Alex Michael Erickson played college football at Wisconsin and was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He has also been a member of the Carolina Panthers.

Erickson extended his deal with the Bengals for an additional two years through the 2020 campaign on September 8, 2018. With 20 receptions for 187 yards, he had a 20-reception season in 2018.

On October 20, 2019, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Erickson recorded his first game with 100+ receiving yards in his career.

The Bengals lost that game 17-27, but Erickson finished with 137 receiving yards. Erickson had a total of 43 receptions for 529 receiving yards at the end of the 2019 season.

Erickson signed with the Washington Commanders on May 4, 2022. He was waived on August 30, 2022, and signed to the practice squad the next day.
