Max Kepler Parents: Meet Marek Rozycki and Kathy Kepler

Max Kepler

Maximilian Kepler-Róycki, better known as Max Kepler, is a baseball player of German and American ancestry. He plays outfield for the Minnesota Twins, a professional baseball team. Baseball was Max’s first sport when he was six years old. He played Little League baseball for the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin.

Max played baseball at the John F. Kennedy School and the St. Emmeram Academy in Regensburg. When he was 16 years old, he joined the Minnesota Twins organization in 2009. The highest signing bonus ever given by an MLB team to a player born outside of the country was $800,000. He received it.

His minor league career with the Twins began in 2010. With the GCL Twins, he took part in that season’s first Gulf Coast League (GCL) campaign. In 2011, he was promoted to the Elizabethton Twins of the Rookie-Advanced Appalachian League. He participated in Class A Midwest League games for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in 2013 and the Elizabethton in 2012.

Following the season, he played with the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League. After being included on the Twins’ 40-man roster, he was extended an invitation to spring training. In 2015, he was a member of the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Class AA Southern League. He made his Major League Baseball debut for the Minnesota Twins on September 27, 2015.

His parents, Marek Róycki and Kathy Kepler, were both professional ballet dancers who met while sharing a stage in Berlin. His father is from Poland, while his mother is from San Antonio, Texas.
