T.J. McFarland Biography

Timothy John McFarland is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals in the United States.

He has previously played for the Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball.

McFarland attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois, for four years, where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams.

In 66+23 innings pitched as a senior, McFarland struck out 103 batters while walking only 13.

He signed a letter of intent to play college baseball for the Missouri Tigers baseball team at the University of Missouri.

McFarland was drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians. McFarland chose to join the Indians rather than attend Missouri.

In 2010, he was named to the all-star game while pitching for the Kinston Indians of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League.

The Baltimore Orioles picked McFarland from the Indians in the 2012 Rule 5 draft after he spent the 2012 season with the Akron Aeros of the Class AA Eastern League and the Columbus Clippers of the Class AAA International League.
