Andrew Paul Steckenrider is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball.
On January 10, 1991, he was born in the United States (MLB). Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Miami Marlins.
After graduating from Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia, Ricky Steckenrider attended the University of Tennessee and played collegiate baseball. During the 2012 MLB Draft,
the Miami Marlins selected him in the eighth round. Before undergoing Tommy John surgery in May of that year, he had a 1-1 record with a 4.58 ERA in 13 appearances.
In 2014, he pitched one scoreless inning for the GCL Marlins in a rehab start. This is his first big league call-up since David Phelps’ bereavement list placement on May 23, 2017. With a 2.34 ERA in 34.2 innings thrown across 37 big league games and a 1-1 record,
he finished the season as Miami’s best pitcher with a 2.34. As of October 29, 2020, he would have been eligible for the free agency had he not rejected a promotion offer.
Steckenrider agreed to a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in November 2020. In 2021, he had 14 saves, a 2.00 ERA, 58 strikeouts in 67+23 innings, and a 2.00 saves percentage.
