Cleveland Guardians

Clase and Delino DeShields Jr. were dealt to the Cleveland Indians on December 15, 2019, for Corey Kluber and monetary considerations.

On May 1, 2020, Clase was punished for 80 games after testing positive for Boldenone, a prohibited performance-enhancing drug.

Clase’s ban was overturned at the end of the truncated 2020 Major League Baseball season due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the reduction of the season to 60 games.

For the 2021 season, Clase returned to the Indians’ bullpen. He was selected AL Reliever of the Month after converting all six save opportunities in August and keeping opposing batters to a.095 average.

Clase signed a five-year, $20 million agreement with the Cleveland Guardians on April 2, 2022.
