Tony was born to his parents known as  Scott Gonsolin and Joanne Gonsolin. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the ninth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, and made his MLB debut in 2019.



Gonsolin began his high school education at the Vacaville High School in Vacaville, California. As a senior, he went 4–1 with a 2.60 earned run average (ERA).

 After going undrafted in the 2012 MLB draft, he enrolled and played college baseball at St. Mary’s College of California.
