Raimel Antonio Tapia Linarez is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.



He was born on February 4, 1994, in the Dominican Republic (MLB). In 2016, Tapia debuted in Major League Baseball with the Colorado Rockies.



In 2010, the Colorado Rockies made Tapia a member of their team after signing him as an international free agent. He participated in the 2013 season with the Grand Junction Rockies in the Pioneer League’s Rookie-level competition.

Before the start of the 2014 baseball season, Baseball Prospectus ranked Tapia as the No. 97 overall prospect in all of baseball.

Tapia finished the 2018 season with a baserunning sprint speed of 28.6 feet per second, the quickest of any designated hitter in the major leagues.

Tapia and Adrian Pinto were dealt with by the Toronto Blue Jays for Randal Grichuk on March 24, 2022. During at-bats, Tapia has been known to change his batting stance.

He usually takes an erect posture at the plate unless there are two strikes against him, in which case he crouches deeply and lowers his eye level by around five and three-quarter inches.
