Thomas Frank La Stella, professionally called Tommy La Stella plays baseball for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He serves as an infielder for the team. He grew up in New Jersey where he attended high school at Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey.
Tommy later attended St. John’s University where he played college baseball for the St. John’s Red Storm for a year and then transferred to Coastal Carolina University to play for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. He also played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Bourne Braves.
During the 2011 MLB draft, Tommy was signed by the Atlanta Braves in the eighth round of the draft. He made his professional debut that season playing with the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League. He played for the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League during the 2012 season and spent the 2013 season with the Mississippi Braves of the Class AA Southern League.
Tommy was traded to the Chicago Cubs in November 2014 and in November 2018, the Cubs traded him to the Los Angeles Angels. The San Francisco Giants signed a three-year contract with him in 2021. The contract was worth $18.75 million.
