DeAngelo Malone is an outside linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League. He stands 1.93 meters tall and weighs 109 kilograms. Following his transfer to Cedar Grove High School, he attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School. He committed to play college football for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Western Kentucky University as a three-star prospect fresh out of high school.
He made 25 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and five quarterback hurries as a rookie. He finished the season as a sophomore with 60 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and two forced fumbles, earning him honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition.
His 99 total tackles during his junior season were fourth in the country, and he had 21 of those for loss. Along with 16 quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, and 11.5 sacks, he ranked 12th in the country. In 2019 and 2021, he was selected to the first team of the Conference USA and was named the defensive player of the year.
As one of the top five outside linebacker prospects for the 2021 NFL draft, he was also named the preseason Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. At the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Malone with the 82nd overall choice, in the third round.
