Jacob Seth Lugo was born on November 17, 1989, in Louisiana. Lugo had an unremarkable collegiate career. Until his final season, he was Centenary’s No. 2 starter, and his E.R.A. was at least 4.75 each year.
He continued for his junior year in 2011, despite the fact that Centenary’s roster was losing players as the team transitioned from Division I to Division III.
He was selected 1,032nd overall in the 2011 draft and made his big league debut in 2016. Prior to his MLB debut, MLB.com ranked him as the Mets’ minor league system’s 22nd-best prospect.
Due to a back ailment, he missed the whole 2012 season. He had an ordinary fastball that averaged approximately 90 miles per hour.
In the 2017 season, he recorded a 6.55 earned run average as a starter in hitter-friendly Las Vegas. In 17 appearances with the Mets last season, he was 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA. In two starts, he has a 2-0 record with a 2.45 ERA.
Lugo grew into a valuable member of the Mets club in recent years. He was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, a disorder in which the vertebrae fall out of position, in 2012.
