Jason Heyward is an American professional baseball right fielder for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB).

One of baseball’s most highly-regarded prospects, Heyward made his MLB debut as Atlanta’s starting right fielder on Opening Day 2010.

After the 2014 season, he was moved to the St. Louis Cardinals and spent the remainder of his career there. With a height of 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m), he weighs 245 pounds (111 kg). He is left-handed.

For most of his professional career, he has worn the number 22 in commemoration of a high school teammate who died in a vehicle accident.

John Heyward was selected as the Braves’ greatest overall prospect in 2007 by Baseball America and the team’s best power hitter. Baseball America also noted that Heyward had the best strike-zone control and excelled in a number of other areas.

The Baseball America and USA Today Minor League Player of the Year Awards were given to him in 2009.
