James McCann happens to be one of the professional baseball players with the New York Mets baseball team. He plays as a catcher for the team and has been with the Mets singed he signed a four-year contract with them in December 2020.

James played high school baseball at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California. He was drafted out of high school by the Chicago White Sox in the 31st round of the 2008 MLB draft but he did not sign with them and chose to play college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team at the University of Arkansas.

He was selected to play for the United States national baseball team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup and the 2011 Pan American Games where the team won the silver medal in the Pan American Games. That same year, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 2nd round of the 2011 MLB draft.

He agreed to play with the Tigers and signed with them. He then began his professional career that year playing for the Gulf Coast Tigers of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. He was later promoted to play with the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A Midwest League that same season.

The Tigers invited him to their spring training in 2012. In September 2014, he was called up to the major leagues where he made his MLB debut that day for the tigers. He signed a one-year $2.5 million contract with the Chicago White Sox in December 2018 and in December 2020, he signed a four-year contract of $40.6 million with the New York Mets.

James has a set of twins with his wife Jessica Cox. The twins were born prematurely in December 2017. They are called Christian Thomas McCann and Kane Timothy McCann.
