A deal was struck on July 27, 2016, in which the Rangers traded Demeritte to the Braves in exchange for Lucas Harrell and Daro Alvarez.

He was assigned to the Carolina Mudcats, a minor league baseball team in North Carolina. In 123 games between High Desert and Carolina, he batted .266/.363/.554 with 28 home runs and 70 RBIs and a slash line of .266/.363/.554.



Demeritte spent the 2017 season with the Mississippi Braves, where he hit.231 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs in 124 games.

He returned to Mississippi in 2018, when he hit .222 with 17 home runs and 63 RBIs in 128 games while slashing .222/.316/.416 with 17 home runs and 63 RBIs in 128 games.

Demeritte began playing the outfield for the first time during the 2018 season. Demeritte was selected the Mississippi Braves player of the year at the conclusion of the regular season.

He began the season with the Gwinnett Stripers in 2019. Demeritte was selected to the Triple-A All-Star Game at the halfway point of the season.

The Atlanta Braves claimed Demeritte off waivers on February 12, 2021, and he became a member of their roster.

Demeritte was outrighted from the Major League Baseball 40-man roster on February 21, 2021, and assigned to the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers.

Demeritte had a .282/.363/.575 batting line in 81 games for Triple-A Gwinnett, with 21 home runs and 57 RBI.

On November 6, 2021, the Braves added Demeritte’s contract to the 40-man roster, making him the team’s first free-agent signing.
