Mychal Givens career with the Baltimore Orioles

On June 20, 2015, the Baltimore Orioles promoted Givens to the major leagues.

On June 24, he made his major league debut, pitching a scoreless inning with one strikeout, and was sent back to Bowie the next day.

As an All-Star in the Eastern League, he was honored. After the Orioles traded Tommy Hunter and designated Bud Norris for assignment on July 31, he was recalled.

His first Major League victory came against the Detroit Tigers, in which he pitched 12/3 innings and struck out two batters.

In 2015, Givens had a record of 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 22 appearances and 30.0 innings. With 38 strikeouts and six walks, Givens’ WHIP was at 0.867.

Orioles Opening Day squad included Givens and he made his first bullpen appearance on the first day of the season.

The two runs he allowed were offset by two strikeouts in 113 innings of work. On a walk-off single, the Orioles won the game 3–2.

Givens has an ERA of 13.50 after allowing three runs in his first two relief outings of the season. Before allowing another run, Givens went on a ten-inning scoreless streak.

He finished the month of April with 12 appearances, 12 innings pitched, 21 strikeouts, seven walks, and a 3.00 ERA.

Givens had a 2–0 month as well. Givens went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 11 innings of work in eight appearances in the month of May.

After two wins on June 2 and 3 for the Orioles, Givens has now gone 5–0 and 7–0 for his career.

Givens was the first Orioles reliever to start his Major League career with seven straight victories, according to STATS, LLC.

As a relief pitcher, Givens would win three more games in 2016. For the season, Givens had 96 strikeouts in 7423 innings and a 3.13 ERA.

A 1.27 earned run average, an 8-2 record, and 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings pitched were his stats during the season.

In the Wild Card Game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Givens made his postseason debut. It was a 2–2 game when he entered the game, and he had runners on the corners.

He induced a double play on the opening pitch. In the end, he had three strikeouts in 213 innings of work for the Orioles, who lost 5–2 in extra innings.
