He hit.284/.374/.405 with nine home runs and 47 RBIs in 87 games between the two organizations. After the season, he was chosen to play for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League, where he was awarded an All-Star.

Herrera was invited to spring training as a non-roster invitee in 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the minor league season was canceled in 2020, and he did not play in any minor league games.

The Cardinals signed Herrera to a 40-man roster after the 2020 season. Herrea played most of the 2021 season with Springfield (now in the Double-A Central), hitting.231/.346/.408 with 17 home runs and 63

RBIs in 98 games. He finished the season with the Triple-A East’s Memphis Redbirds, appearing in one game.
