José Alberto Godoy, a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher with the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball, was born on October 13, 1994. Godoy comes from Maracaibo in Venezuela.

He formerly played for the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball. In 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals signed him as an international free agent. On May 21, 2021, he became the 20,000th player in MLB history when he made his debut.

To begin the 2021 season, he was sent to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Godoy was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on May 20, 2021, when he was named to the 40-man roster. That night, Godoy made his MLB debut as a pinch-runner for teammate backstop Tom Murphy against the San Diego Padres.

Godoy signed as an international free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals on July 2, 2011. In 2012, he made his pro debut with the DSL Cardinals appearing in 36 games with the GCL Cardinals in 2013, he slashed.263/.368/.307 for a.263/.368/.307 batting average.

Godoy signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners on November 20, 2020. To begin the 2021 season, he was sent to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Godoy was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on May 20, 2021, when he was named to the 40-man roster.

Godoy, who was claimed by the Minnesota Twins on March 17, 2022. On April 6, 2022, he was marked for assignment. Godoy was assigned to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints on April 10 and he was later promoted to the major leagues by the Twins on April 23.
