Paul Goldschmidt happens to be one of the professional baseball players in the MLB who plays as the first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He was born to parents David and Kim Goldschmidt on September 10, 1987.



Paul had his amateur baseball career at The Woodlands High School and at Texas State University where he played college baseball for the Texas State Bobcats baseball team. In 2008 and 2009, he was named the Southland Conference hitter of the year and also the Southland player of the year.

During the 2009 MLB draft, he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 8th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He signed with the Diamondbacks and was given $95,000 as a signing bonus. He then started his professional career with the Missoula Osprey of the Rookie-level Pioneer League that same year.



He was promoted to the major leagues on August 1, 2011. He made his MLB debut that same day for the Diamondbacks. He was made the starting first baseman for the National League during the 2014 MLB All-Star Game. He was traded to the St Louis Cardinals on December 5, 2018. In March 2019, Paul signed a five-year contract extension worth $130 million with the Cardinals.
