One of the professional baseball pitchers of the Major League Baseball(MLB) is Cory Abbott. He plays for the Chicago Cubs baseball team and earns an annual salary of $570,500 from the Cubs.

Born in San Diego, California in the United States of America, Cory began his amateur career playing baseball for his high school baseball team. He was a student at the Junipero Serra High School in San Diego, his birth town.

Cory was undrafted after high school which made him enrol at Loyola Marymount University where he played college baseball. Cory also played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

During the 2017 MLB draft, the Chicago Cubs selected him in the 2nd round of the draft. He signed with the team and made his professional debut playing for the Eugene Emeralds team of the minor league.

There was no game to be played in the 2020 baseball season as the season suffered cancellation because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cory was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on June 5, 2021. He made his MLB debut that day when the Cubs played against the San Francisco Giants.
