Marcell Ozuna is a professional baseball player with the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He plays as an outfielder for the Braves. He was born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.



In 2008, the Florida Marlins signed him as an international free agent and he was given $49,000 as a signing bonus. He was assigned to play for the Dominican Summer League (DSL) Marlins that year to make his professional debut. In 2009, he was with the GCL Marlins and he spent the 2010 season with the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League.

During the 2012 minor league season, he was promoted to play with the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League. That year, the Marlins added him to their 40-man roster. Before the 2013 season began, Baseball America rated him the 75th-best prospect in baseball. He was also named the league’s player of the week in April 2013.



Marcell was promoted to the major leagues in April 2013 and on April 30, 2013, he made his MLB debut for the Marlins. He was traded to the St Louis Cardinals in December 2017 and in January 2018, the Cardinals and Marcell agreed on a one-year contract worth $9 million. Marcell signed a one-year contract in January 2020 with the Atlanta Braves. The contract was worth $18 million.
